Panchkula, December 29 (Ishan Samvad): Amid persistent dense fog and low visibility, the Panchkula Traffic Police has launched a special awareness and safety campaign aimed at preventing road accidents and ensuring safe travel for commuters. As part of the initiative, road-safety hoardings have been installed at major highways and vulnerable points across the district.

Under the supervision of Traffic SHO Surajpur Abhishek, teams placed hoardings carrying key fog-safety advisories at:

  • Chandimandir Toll Plaza (Panchkula–Shimla Highway)
  • Billa Cut
  • Golpura (Panchkula–Yamunanagar Highway)
  • Mallah Mor (Panchkula–Shimla Highway)
  • Sukhomajri Bypass (Pinjore–Baddi Highway)

Drivers were advised to:

  • avoid roadside parking
  • refrain from sudden lane changes and overtaking
  • drive at controlled speed
  • maintain safe distance
  • use low-beam headlights, tail lights, fog lamps and indicators properly

Commuters were also urged not to drive under the influence, to check weather updates before travel, and postpone journeys during extreme fog.

DCP Crime & Traffic Manpreet Singh Soodan said:

“Even minor negligence in dense fog can cause serious road accidents. Panchkula Traffic Police keeps citizen safety as its top priority and is running continuous awareness drives. We appeal to all motorists to follow traffic rules, remain patient and alert, and value their own and others’ lives.”
