Why Panchkula Police are leaving no room for illegal mining in Ramgarh

Panchkula, March 19: In a clear signal of the district’s ongoing aggressive stance against environmental degradation and unauthorized resource exploitation, Panchkula Police have once again demonstrated their commitment to curbing illegal mining by seizing a tractor-trolley loaded with mining material lacking proper documentation in the Ramgarh area.

The incident occurred during a routine yet vigilant blockade and vehicle-checking operation conducted by the Ramgarh police post team, led by in-charge Tajinder Pal. Officers flagged down a suspicious tractor-trolley and requested the mandatory e-way bill from the driver. When the driver failed to produce any valid documents, the police promptly seized the vehicle and its load, parking it securely at the Ramgarh police post. The Mining Department has been formally notified to initiate further proceedings, including assessment of penalties and confiscation under relevant laws.

This action underscores the broader enforcement strategy in Panchkula, where police teams are maintaining heightened surveillance in mining-prone zones to prevent the plunder of natural resources such as sand, gravel, and stones—activities that contribute to riverbed erosion, loss of government revenue, and long-term ecological harm.

DCP Panchkula Srishti Gupta emphasized the department’s resolute approach, stating that various police teams remain fully mobilized in the field, closely monitoring suspicious vehicles and coordinating with the Mining Department. She warned that those engaged in the illegal extraction or transportation of natural resources would face strict consequences without exception, adding that such collaborative raids and enforcement drives would persist to eradicate illegal mining from the district entirely.

Recent reports indicate this seizure is part of a sustained crackdown in Panchkula throughout early 2026, with multiple tractor-trolleys and other vehicles impounded in areas like Barwala, Amaravati, Raipur Rani, and Madhawala in the preceding weeks and months. No significant updates or follow-up actions specific to this March 19 Ramgarh incident have emerged beyond the initial seizure and departmental referral.

This latest operation reinforces that Panchkula Police are not merely responding to isolated violations but are systematically dismantling the infrastructure of illegal mining through proactive patrolling, intelligence-led checks, and inter-departmental coordination—ensuring the district’s natural assets are protected for future generations.
