30 Units of Blood Collected at Market Sector 15 D, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, January 12, 2026. On the occasion of National Youth Day and to address the blood shortage in hospitals due to the pandemic, a blood donation camp was organized by Vishvas Foundation Panchkula and Indian Red Cross UT Chandigarh in collaboration with Kartik Restaurant at Market Sector 15D, Chandigarh. The camp started at 11:00 AM and continued till 4:00 PM. 35 people registered to donate blood. 5 were refused by doctors due to health issues. A team from Blood Bank Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre Sector-37 Chandigarh, under the supervision of Dr. Roli Agarwal, collected 30 units of blood.

Sadhvi Neelima Vishvas, President of Vishvas Foundation, said that the camp was inaugurated by P. Guna Sekaran, owner of Kartik Restaurant, who presented badges to the blood donors and encouraged the attendees to donate blood. Poonam Malik, Nodal Officer of Red Cross UT Chandigarh, also presented certificates of appreciation to the blood donors. She said that there is a misconception among people that blood donation causes weakness. Blood donation does not cause any weakness; in fact, everyone should donate blood at least once every 90 days. This helps those in need and keeps the body healthy. Blood donation is considered one of the greatest acts of service. Blood is the only substance that cannot be manufactured in a factory.

P. Guna Sekaran said that blood donation is a great act of charity. By donating blood to a needy person, a life can be saved. People generally believe that blood donation causes weakness. This is misleading information. Blood donation does not cause any weakness, and the donated blood is replenished within a week, and new blood circulates in the body. He appealed to the youth to pledge to donate blood and to donate blood at least once in their lives.

All blood donors at this blood donation camp were encouraged with certificates of appreciation and gifts. Present on the occasion were Ramesh Suman, Varinder Kumar, Madhu Khanna, and Janak Munjal from Vishvas Foundation, along with staff from the Red Cross Chandigarh and other distinguished guests.
