Karnal, November 4, 2025 (By Ishan Rai): The ongoing government paddy procurement scam in Karnal district has triggered yet another major administrative action. The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED) has suspended District Manager Amit Kumar with immediate effect, as per official orders issued from the headquarters in Panchkula on November 4, 2025.
According to the suspension order, Amit Kumar will continue to receive salary and allowances as per service rules during the suspension period, while his headquarters will remain at Panchkula.
This comes after a series of earlier disciplinary actions taken in connection with irregularities in Karnal and Taraori grain markets, where multiple cases of forged records and manipulation in paddy procurement were reported.
Authorities have already taken strict action against four inspectors and one sub-inspector from the Food and Supply Department, along with Taraori Market Committee Secretary Sanjeev Sachdeva, Karnal Market Secretary Asha Rani, two market supervisors, one auction recorder, and three computer operators.
Now, with District Manager Amit Kumar’s suspension, the investigation appears to be expanding further. Sources indicate that more officials may face suspension or departmental proceedings in the coming days as evidence continues to surface.
Experts believe this case has raised serious questions about transparency and accountability in the state’s procurement system. The government has reaffirmed its stance that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to corruption in the agricultural supply chain.
